What Is CleanSpam?

CleanSpam is a managed SPAM filtering service that filters emails before it reaches your internal networks.

There is no hardware or software to configure or setup, the setup process could not be easier. You don't have to change any settings on your server or on your email clients. Managing your policies is easy with our friendly web interface.

How Does CleanSpam Work?
CleanSpam is a behind the scenes SPAM filtering service, there is no need to install any software or hardware at your premises. All the SPAM filtering is performed before email reaches your network inbound, and immediately after it leaves your network outbound.

To enable the use of CleanSpam a simple change is needed to your domain MX records - you simply get your current ISP to point your MX records to CleanSpam's filtering servers.
Once these DNS changes have been applied, mail will enter the CleanSpam system before entering your network.

During the filtering process there are a number of steps which are completed before email is deemed safe and thus moved to your network.

Step 1
Email entering the CleanSpam filtering systems must first pass through a primary layer of defenses. Using a complex system of compliance checking and behavior monitoring ensures protection against direct and indirect SMTP spam filter based attacks.

Step 2
The next process in the CleanSpam filtering system is security weaknesses or flaws in a program. Some SPAM is created with the intention of breaking the weaknesses in your email client or server software.

Step 3
Email will go thru numerous different antivirus engines to ensure the email is virus free, should a virus be found an email will be sent to the recipient for their review.
The antivirus engines are updates approximately every 30 minutes, ensuring the latest viruses will be captured within a short period of time after the virus has been released.

Step 4
CleanSpam’s email spam filter Heuristics engines alone consist of a single test that contains over 100,000 active pattern matching algorithms updated hundreds of times each day.

In addition, we are constantly adapting to new spamming techniques as we add new email filter tests and modify old ones.

Step 5
If your email systems go down, we will continue to accept mail for your domain and hold it until your mail server is back online. Then, well deliver it in a flow controlled fashion to make sure your server isn’t overwhelmed.

Do I Have Control?
At CleanSpam we make sure you have complete control of your whitelists / blacklist entries.

Reporting
Once a day you will get an email from CleanSpam with a listing of messages that were stored in the quarantine. You can scroll through this list in a few seconds and find if anything you may find important is quarantined -- if you find it just click on the link to either deliver the email or trust the sender and you're done. You don't have to download thousands of emails nor have those messages put you over your storage limit. Just 1 email a day keeps the spam away.
